Adebisi: Hi. How is it going for you and Sepultura at the moment?

Andreas: Everything is fine. We just started the tour in Oslo. Today is the second show. Everything is just fine. The new album is coming out March 17th but many people have already listened to the album because itīs on the internet and a lot of people have downloaded it.
The response have been really positive. Just excited to be on the road again.

Adebisi: What do you guys think about internet piratism?

Andreas: What can we do? (Laughs). I think itīs just natural and it is the way it is. Information travels really fast nowadays. Unfortunately, thatīs the way it happens. Overall, thatīs really hard to control that much, you know. But itīs fine if they talk good about the album.

Adebisi: How was the trip to Finland?

Andreas: It was good. We took the boat from Stockholm to here. Itīs cool because itīs the first time we are here in Tampere. This is also the first time we play here in Finland with Derrick so we are very happy to be here after a long time. Itīs cool, we have drink too much and all but thatīs normal, I guess (laughs).

Adebisi: Have you already tasted the finnish beer?

Andreas: Yea. We have been here before. We have been drinking many beers from everywhere and Finland is also included.

Adebisi: So tell us your opinion.

Andreas: Itīs good, it works (laughs)

Adebisi: You are now on European tour with In Flames and Crucified Barbara. How has the tour been so far and what are you expecting from it?

Andreas: Like I said we have done only one show so far in Oslo. Crucified Barbara is doing the scandinavian dates with us. This is the first time we play with In Flames. So far it has been great. The first so was awesome. It was sold out. I think this is a great package for the kids and for the people who come to see the show.
And I think this is a good tour for all of us.

Adebisi: How has the chemistry between you and In Flames gone so far?

Andreas: Itīs great. Theyīre great guys. We havenīt yet spent too much time together, just one show. Itīs not even a week that we have been on the road. But I think it will be great. We gonna have time to know each other and maybe jam, who knows. Itīs gonna be cool.

Adebisi: It has gone awhile since you last time visited Finland. Any memories from those times?

Andreas: I donīt remember the last time. It was a long time ago. We did some shows in Helsinki. We did the giants of rock festival and that was a great show and tv filmed it. I have a copy from the show and stuff. The shows have always been really good here and we work with Apocalyptica also on "Nation". We have really good connections for finnish world.

Adebisi: Media have been asking the question that will Sepultura reunite with Max Cavalera for this yearīs Ozzfest? Is this just a rumour or have you discussed with the
idea with Max?

Andreas: Itīs a rumour like many others. Since he left the band we have been hearing different rumours and stuff. Itīs not gonna happen at all. I mean, we have a new album and we are promoting it. I know Max has stalking on interviews to do the stuff ect. But itīs not the right time for us. But in the near future it would be great just to play with each other again.
Who knows next year or 2008, I donīt know. I think it would be cool for us and for people who have expectations. Especially for people who havenīt seen Sepultura with Max, it would be cool but it really is something we donīt think about now. Maybe in future.

Adebisi: Your new album "Dante XII" hit the stores today in US and it will be released on March 17th here in Finland. tell us a bit of the recording process?

Andreas: This is an album that was totally inspired by the comedy, the book written by Dante in 1321. 700 years ago and still very powerful book. Very rich story and we wanted to find something to inspire us to write the music and lyrics and the artwork ect. And we did it as almost like a soundtrack. We created this movie in our head and we wrote music.
We started writing the album back in August 2004. We took a year and half like writing. Another month to record and two to mix. We use like cellos and french horns and drum loops. And the album is divide in the same way as book, in three parts. Inferno,Porgatory and Paradise. The first five songs represents Inferno which is very raw. No extra instruments or nothing. Porgatory represents the next
five songs. The songs introduces the cellos and french horns and some piano and other instruments. The songs are arranged a little different. And the last songs represents paradise. Itīs a song that is totally different from what we have ever did. Drum loops and some vocals like choirs, like more orchestral works. Itīs very interesting and inspiring. The book is so rich, it has so many
different characters and situations. It was really exciting to work on it. We are very happy of the final result.

Adebisi: Whatīs your own personal favourite Sepultura album of all time? Which one is the most closest record to you and why?

Andreas: Fuck man. Itīs hard to say. I think the last one is always the closest one. The last work because itīs so fresh, you know. Like you said the album is coming out today in America and in three days here in Europe so itīs really new for us. But I like them all. Every album Sepultura has done is really important. Like to build career and every album has a straight connection to each other.
We never could have done "Dante XII" without, "Against", "Nation","Roots" and "Chaos AD". Every step is important. But I like this the most because itīs so new.

Adebisi: Whatīs the situation with Igor Cavalera? When will he rejoin the band?

Andreas: I donīt know. It will take some time for him to rebuild his personal life. He just separated from his wife and he has a new wife, a new kid, so his life is a little crazy at the moment. We donīt wanna force him into any situations because he needs time to take care of himself. But at the same time we canīt stop. We have the album and we have to promote it. We are very lucky to have Roy with us which is a drummer that knows Sepultura really well.
He played with Max before and we have known him for many years. So far he has been great!

Adebisi: You have played a lot of shows in US and in Europe. How does the crowd in US differ from the crowd in Europe?

Andreas: Hmm.. I donīt know. Itīs overall the same. They act the same and they listen to same kind of music. They kinda dress the same. They have the same idols and stuff. It depends a bit of the cultural sides of it. But the crowds are great overall. Latin countries are more "hot". Theyīre crasier. They jump and scream more. But thatīs the way they culturally are. More chaotic which is good.

Adebisi: What are your future plans after finishing the tour with In Flames? Have you booked any summer festivals?

Andreas: We are working on it now. We donīt have any specific dates yet but the plan is to play some festivals. To see some games in the world cup in Germany. Try to do the same as we did in 1994 when we were touring with Pantera and we saw some games of the world cup. Brasilians were winning. Thatīs the plan and hopefully in August / September we will be touring through US. And try to play in as many places as we can with this album.

Adebisi: Reveal us a bit of your playlist. What are you guys listening in your tour bus?

Andreas: Black Sabbath. Thatīs it. I listen to the old stuff a lot. You know like Sabbath, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, ect. Every time you listen to them you find something new. I listen to more of that stuff. I donīt listen that much to the newer stuff. I donīt listen to music that much actually. I try not to listen to too much music to try to gather information from other sources you know like Movies, books, talking to people and you know things around.

Adebisi: So not to copy from other bands?

Andreas: Yea, exactly because thatīs what everybody does.

Adebisi: Thatīs maybe the biggest curse in music industry at the moment.

Andreas: Yea, there isnīt actually anything new going on, really. You have like a cycle people try to repeat with music but also with fashion. You see movies like there is a lot of reworks, like King Kong. So I think itīs cool to gather information from other sources than music to do music. It helps you to find different ways, new and original ways to write you know. Itīs more challenging.

Adebisi: Where do you see Sepultura five years from now?

Andreas: I donīt know. Hopefully still jamming. Doing more albums and stuff. You know, keep going. Sepultura is now 21 years old. We will be 22 this year. We have been on the road for long time. Itīs a lifetime. Itīs has been a long way and itīs great to still be here after so long talking of Sepultura and about the new album and stuff. Great feeling.

Adebisi: You have had your hard times.

Andreas: Definitely. Ainīt no easy life, you know for no-one. You have really fight for what you believe. Good times, bad times, thatīs life. But overall we have had very positive career besides all the changes, singers, record labels and managers. All that crap that is a part of our lives as a band. But like I said itīs just great still to be here. Doing the stuff and I love what I do. Thatīs the most important thing, to enjoy what you do.

Adebisi: Thanks for doing this interview with us. Good luck for tonights show and for the rest of the In Flames tour. Any last words to share with your finnish / european fans?

Andreas: I just like to say "Kiitos" (means thank you in finnish).
