Rise Of The Tyrant
Arch Enemy

THE REVIEW:

Arch Enemy has been one of my favourite band´s since 2003´s “Anthems Of Rebellion”. “Doomsday Machine” which was released in 2005 followed with the same kind of lines and once again I found myself enjoying another fine Arch Enemy offering. Now on September 25th the group strikes back with their 7th full-length release, “Rise Of The Tyrant” which will be released once again through Century Media.

Angela Gossow´s voice has definitely become a trademark for Arch Enemy and once again she doesn´t let us down. She is once again spitting fire from her mouth like a dragon. The main thing that has changed or I dare say “progressed” for “Rise Of The Tyrant” is the guitar riffs which are maybe a little bit more melodic than they have been before. The Amott brothers are talented guitarists who surely know how to create shredding, ear-ripping assaults. Drummer Daniel Erlandsson has also once again done great job behind drums and he surely knows how beat the living hell out of the drums. The thing that “Rise Of The Tyrant” lacks is the diversity because at some points it´s really hard to tell when a song ends and next one starts. Another thing that bothered me a bit was the fact that I could hear some parts which were too similar to old Arch Enemy songs. Despite from these two Arch Enemy has once again used the same kind of successful formula that have worked on their previous albums and when the production is top notch you can´t really find much to complain about. As a highlight tracks I would mention “In This Shallow Grave” which is my personal favourite track at the moment and “Rise Of The Tyrant” which is really brutal and ferocious.

“Rise Of The Tyrant” is definitely a great album in my opinion even though it is probably a little bit softer musically than “Doomsday Machine” was. If you enjoy listening to death metal and you have enjoyed listening to Angela´s demonic voice before, get into store and grab this album into your CD shelf. You will definitely take this with you into your grave.
