Bedtime Prayers
Blinded Colony

THE REVIEW:

Originally known as Stigmata, Blinded Colony was formed in 2000 in Karlshamn, Sweden. After growing up listening to the Gothenburg sound, they put out a few demos before Italian label Scarlet Records took the band under their wing and unleashed their label debut titled "Divine" in 2003. Three years later, Pivotal Rockordings noticed their talent and signed them to release their next effort titled "Bedtime Prayers" through the label on January 12th. With this release Blinded Colony will rise to the top of the finest European melodic metal acts for sure.

Blinded Colony´s sound is like a perfect blend of emotional, harmonic keyboards and nerve-wrecking agression. The closest swedish cousin would be Soilwork, but somehow Blinded Colony´s keyboards have a more tasty and catchy sound than their swedish buddies. I know that many of you are thinking that "I have heard this dozen times already", but seriously, Blinded Colony bring a lot of working and addictive guitar hooks to the surface with "Bedtime Prayers". The backing vocals fit perfectly into the concept and when you add tight percussion and amazing keyboard integration to the concept, the soup is warm and ready to be served. I really can´t find any weak link on the record. So, as my personal favourite highlight, I would say the whole album was the highlight.

Blinded Colony have really created a melodic metal masterpiece with "Bedtime Prayers". The album is a perfect, harmonic balance between melody and agression and I dare say that this will be one of my favourite melodic metal explosions of 2007! Highly recommended for fans of In Flames, Soilwork and for the people who like their metal served with a nice dose of melody.

Nice stuff. Pretty basic melodic death metal album, but it rocks... definetly.
