Rest Inside The Flames
36 Crazyfists

THE REVIEW:

When 36 Crazyfists unleashed their killer album "A Snow Capped Romance" in 2004 it was musically a huge leap forward from their 2002 debut "Bitterness The Star", adding more catchy melodic choruses, and a healthier dose of aggression to their sonic arsenal. Now on 2006 the band is ready to take the next step with their new album "Rest Inside The Flames" which saw it´s release on June 13th through RoadRunner Records. With this record 36 Crazyfists managed to not only stabilize thei sound, but also expand into a way "bigger" bands never will.

"Rest Inside The Flames" opens with a killer song "I'll Go Until My Heart Stops" which is a typical 36 Crazyfists song: fast, beat-laden and aggressive with terrific melodies coursing throughout. The good thing about this song is that vocalist Brock Lindow has increased his skills as a vocalist and he gives the song enormously great vibe. I dare to say that this is the best song they´ve ever done so far. "Felt Through a Phone Line" is where the band really starts to show their improvement. The song is both lyrically and musically really mature. More melody is integrated into the sound, and there are more "clean" vocals added into the concept as well. At this point some fans may turn their backs to 36 Crazyfists because the album isn´t as heavy as "A Snow Capped Romance" but with time it really grows on you like it did with me. "Elysium" features guest vocals from Howard Jones of Killswitch Engage. This is without a doubt, the most aggressive track on the album. Musically the song is still quite similar what we have used to known from 36 Crazyfists but the guitar riffs are a bit heavier on this one. "Aurora" represents perfectly the catchiness of the album by being the most catchiest track on the record.

Musically 36 Crazyfists have again taken a big step forward from "A Snow Capped Romance ". You can still recognize the band as the same old 36 Crazyfists which you fall in love with but the band has managed to develop their sound into more diverse direction. The soft parts are softer than before and the heavy parts are maybe heavier than ever. Vocalist Brock handles his vocal parts brilliantly giving the album the vocals it deserves. For the fans of alternative metal the new offering from 36 Crazyfists is a must purchase. The album doesn´t open as easily as "A Snow Capped Romance" because it´s a little bit softer but when it does, it will blow your mind off.

They evolved since the last cd... But not as a big evolution as there were between the last two! Its an ok album... Gave it several good listens but except for two or three tracks it failed to meet my expectations!

it's a nice album, when you listen the album for a second time, you'll check that theres a lot of influences and maybe cuz of that some songs are not that right to be on this album.
